Workshops and group therapy for mothers

Harvest - A therapeutic group for mothers

A woman in a white dress is hanging laundry on a clothesline, while a child reaches up to help. They are outside in a backyard with a brick wall, green leaves, and a blue sky.

“The dark days of motherhood are painful. But it is in these experiences that we stretch our roots right into our deepest ground of being.” - Lisa Marchiano, Motherhood: Facing and Finding Yourself

Autumn often brings that “back to school” feeling, where we find ourselves drawn to take stock and wondering what needs to change. It is also the season of harvest, of gathering in what has grown.

Motherhood asks a great deal of us in the way of tending. In this 6 week closed therapeutic group for mothers we will work with the metaphor of harvest to explore what has taken root in us since becoming mothers, what we are carrying, and what we want to do with it.

You may have been a mother for eight weeks or five years. All experiences are welcome.

Each two-hour session will loosely follow a theme, exploring our sense of self and our relationships, whether with our children, partners, extended family, community or culture. We will use a mix creative prompting and group process, with some psychoeducation.

What is group process? Unlike a sharing circle, where the benefit comes largely from speaking and being heard, group process also uses the way we relate to one another in the room as a way of understanding ourselves better. Guiding and containing this is my role as facilitator. It can be a powerful thing to experience in a space that is safe and held.

The time-limited, thematic structure can make this a low pressure way to try therapy for the first time. For those with experience of individual talking therapy, the group setting can often offer something different and expansive.

Practical things

Non-mobile babies are welcome to come with you. For crawling babies and older children, please arrange childcare for the session.

The fee is £210 for the full six weeks (a discount will be available for September workshop attendees)

I ask that you please commit to all six, both for your own experience and for the cohesion of the group. If you know in advance that you will need to miss one session, that can usually be accommodated, though the fee is payable in full.

Not sure if this is right for you or have questions about the group? Email me at therapy.anna.r@gmail.com

I can answer questions over email or a free, no obligation 15 minute call

Picking up the Threads - a workshop for mothers

Meeting our emerging selves

24/09 @ Grow Yoga, Dyson Place, Sheffield | 1-4pm

£25, maximum 6 places

Becoming a mother is a monumental shift. Sometimes, we may be ready to consider who we are becoming in the first weeks. Other times, it takes months or years before we are ready to intentionally connect with what is changing.

Wherever you are on your journey, this therapeutic workshop is a space for all mothers to pause, reflect, and begin making sense of who you were before, and where you are heading.

Through guided reflection, a short exploration of the psychology of identity in motherhood, and a facilitated sharing circle, you'll have space to connect with your experience, alongside other mothers at different points on the motherhood journey.

Hosted at the cosy and welcoming Grow yoga in S11. Open to all mums, whatever age your children are.

No experience of therapy or group work needed. Come as you are.

Facilitated by Anna Rudkevych, a mother and psychotherapist in advanced clinical training with special interest in perinatal mental health and motherhood.

For those wanting to go deeper, this workshop gives you an idea about Harvest - a 6-week therapeutic group for mothers running at Grow Yoga from 8 October. You're welcome to register for the group directly if you already know it's for you. However, the workshop works as a standalone afternoon of self-reflection and doesn’t assume a commitment to the group.

Not sure if this is right for you or have questions about the workshop? Email me at therapy.anna.r@gmail.com
